Terms and conditions of sale

We print to the proof you approve, so please check it carefully: once it is approved, what is on it is what gets printed. Turnaround is working days in our production, and it does not include the time the courier takes. If we get something wrong we reprint it or refund it.

1. Who you are contracting with

These terms apply to every order placed on discoverprint.ie with Discoverprint (VRVC Investotech Limited), registered in the Republic of Ireland under company number 639082, at Discoverprint, The Crescent, Northwood, Santry, Dublin. Placing an order means you accept them.

Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have as a consumer under Irish or European law. Where a term below conflicts with such a right, that right wins.

2. Placing an order

  • Prices on the site are in euro and exclude VAT. VAT is added at the rate shown at checkout, at the rate that applies to the product.
  • Your order is an offer to buy. The contract is made when we email you to confirm it, not when you press the button.
  • We may decline an order, for example where a price was listed in error, where artwork is unlawful or infringes someone else, or where we cannot produce what was asked for. If we decline after taking payment we refund it in full.
  • A quotation we send is valid for the period stated on it, and the prices in it hold for that period unless a supplier cost moves beyond our control.

3. Your artwork and what you are responsible for

  • You confirm that you own the artwork you send us, or have permission to use it, and that printing it does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trade mark or other right.
  • You are responsible for the content: spelling, numbers, prices, contact details, and anything else that is yours to check.
  • We do not check your text for accuracy, and we cannot be responsible for an error that was in the file you sent or the details you typed.
  • You agree to indemnify us against any claim arising from artwork you supplied.

4. Proofs and approval

We send a proof before we print. Printing starts when you approve it, and the approved proof is what we print. Please read every word of it, including the small type, the telephone numbers and the numbering range.

  • Approval is final. Once you approve, we cannot stop the job or change it, and a mistake that was on the approved proof is not something we can reprint free of charge.
  • Our production time starts at approval, not at the time you placed the order. A proof left unapproved for three days delays the job by three days.
  • Screen colour is not print colour. Monitors vary and a colour can shift between screen and paper, and between print runs on the same press. A reasonable variation in colour is not a fault.
  • A trimming tolerance of up to 2mm is normal in commercial printing and is not a fault.

5. Turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees

The turnaround shown on a product is the number of working days we expect the job to take in production, counted from the moment you approve your proof. It is an estimate given in good faith. It is not a delivery date and it is not a guarantee.

  • Turnaround excludes the time in the courier network. A three day turnaround plus a courier day is four days at the earliest.
  • Working days are Monday to Friday and do not include public holidays.
  • Time does not run while we are waiting for something from you: an approval, a corrected file, or an answer to a question about the job.
  • Where a date genuinely matters to you, tell us before you order and we will say honestly whether we can meet it. Unless we have confirmed a date in writing, no date is guaranteed.

We are not liable for a delay caused by something outside our reasonable control. That includes courier delays, backlogs and failed delivery attempts, supplier or material shortages, equipment failure, industrial action, severe weather, power or network outages, and anything else of that kind. Where such a delay happens we will tell you as soon as we know, and we will not charge you for delivery we did not manage to give you.

6. Delivery

  • Delivery is free across Ireland on every order unless the product page says otherwise.
  • We deliver to the address you give us. Please check it: a parcel sent to an address you typed wrongly is not something we can recover, and a reprint would be chargeable.
  • Someone needs to be there to take the parcel. Where a courier cannot deliver and the parcel comes back to us, we will resend it and may charge the carriage again.
  • Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Title passes when we have been paid in full.
  • Tell us within 3 working days if a parcel has not arrived when it should have, so we can raise it with the courier while they still hold the records.

7. Cancellation and returns

Everything we print is made to your specification. Under European and Irish consumer law the 14 day right to change your mind does not apply to goods made to a consumer’s own specification or clearly personalised, and that covers almost everything we sell.

  • Before you approve your proof you can cancel and we refund you in full.
  • After approval the job is in production and cannot be cancelled, because the materials are committed and the work is specific to you.
  • None of this affects your rights where the goods are faulty, not as described, or not of merchantable quality.

8. If something is wrong

Tell us within 10 working days of delivery and keep the goods, because we usually need to see them or have them back. We will look at it properly, and if the fault is ours we will reprint the job or refund you. Our satisfaction guarantee sets out exactly how we handle it.

9. Payment

  • Orders are paid in full at checkout unless we have agreed an account with you in writing.
  • Card payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or hold your card number.
  • Where we have agreed account terms, invoices are due within the period stated on the invoice. Late payment may incur interest and recovery costs under the European Communities (Late Payment in Commercial Transactions) Regulations.

10. Our liability

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of profit, business, contracts or goodwill, or for a loss caused by a delay where we have not guaranteed a date in writing.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Ireland and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction. If we cannot resolve a complaint between us, a consumer may use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform.

How we handle your personal data is set out in our privacy policy.
