Cookie policy

1. What a cookie is, and what we do with it
A cookie holds a short piece of text that your browser sends back to us on each request, which is how a website recognises the same visitor twice. Without them a basket would empty between pages and a payment could be taken twice.
We group them the way the law does. Strictly necessary cookies are set because the service you asked for cannot run without them, and no consent is required for those. Everything else is set only after you accept it.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These are set on every visit. Refusing them is not offered, because the shop would not function, but none of them is used for advertising or shared with anyone.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| pib_cart | Remembers your basket between visits so it is still there when you come back. | 30 days |
| pib_consent | Stores the choice you made in the cookie banner, so we do not ask again and do not load anything you refused. | 12 months |
| pib_pi | Ties your browser to the payment in progress, so returning to the checkout does not start a second one or charge you twice. | 7 days |
| pib_chat | Identifies your conversation with the assistant, so a reply reaches the person who asked. | 90 days |
| pib_purchase_... | Marks an order as already counted, so a refreshed thank you page does not report the same purchase twice. | Until the browser closes |
| pib_admin | Signs a member of staff in to the admin. It is never set on a customer visit. | 12 hours |
Stripe also sets cookies on the payment step to spot fraud and to keep the card form working. Those are strictly necessary to take a payment safely, and Stripe describes them in its own policy.
3. Measurement cookies, only if you accept
These load when you press Accept in the banner, and not before. If you press Reject, or close the banner without choosing, they are never loaded.
| Service | Names | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | _ga, _ga_* | Counts visits and which pages are read, so we know what is worth improving. | Up to 2 years |
| Meta Pixel | _fbp | Measures whether an advert led to an order. | Up to 3 months |
4. Changing your mind
- Clearing this site’s cookies in your browser removes your stored choice, and the banner asks again on your next visit.
- Every browser can block or delete cookies from its settings, usually under Privacy. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop the basket and the checkout working.
- Refusing measurement cookies does not reduce anything you can do on the site, and never affects a price.
5. More about your data
What we do with the information behind these cookies, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it are set out in our privacy policy. Any question about either, email sales@discoverprint.ie.
