A4 folded to DL, A5 or 105mm x 297mm
An A4 folded brochure is a 210mm x 297mm sheet printed full colour and folded to one of three sizes. It is the general purpose folded leaflet: a tri fold for a rack, a half fold for a handout, or a tall narrow fold for a price list.
Three folds
- Fold to DL, 99mm x 210mm: the classic tri fold or letter fold, two folds giving six panels, for a leaflet rack or a DL envelope.
- Fold to A5, 148mm x 210mm: one fold giving four pages, for a handout or a short menu.
- Fold to 105mm x 297mm: one fold along the length giving four tall panels, for a price list or a drinks menu.
Paper and sides
Choose 130gsm gloss, which folds cleanly and keeps the cost down on a large run, or 170gsm gloss, which is stiffer and holds its fold on a table or in a rack. Both are printed full colour. Print one side or both; a brochure is nearly always printed both sides, because the inside is the point of folding it.
Designing for the folds
On a tri fold the panel that folds in is 2mm narrower; ask for the template. Put the cover on the outside right panel and the contact details on the outside left, which is the back once folded. Inside, the three panels read left to right as one spread, so a heading can run across them.
Quantities

Artwork
Supply a print ready PDF at the flat size with 3mm bleed, at 300dpi and in CMYK, with the panels set to the fold widths. Ask us for a fold template before you start and we email one. We check every file before printing. For design, ask through the bespoke quotation form.
Turnaround, delivery and VAT
Choose 3 or 4 working days when you order; orders approved before 2pm start that working day. Free delivery anywhere in Ireland, north and south, on every order. Prices are shown ex VAT. Brochures are advertising matter, so VAT is added at the checkout at 13.5%.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is fold to DL the same as a tri fold?
Yes. An A4 sheet folded twice to DL is the tri fold, also called a letter fold or a C fold, with six panels.
Which fold for a leaflet rack?
Fold to DL. Racks are made for DL and show the top of the front panel, so put the headline there.
Does the fold change the price?
No. All three folds are priced the same for a given paper, sides and quantity.
Can I have it printed one side only?
Yes, choose single sided. Most customers print both sides because the inside panels are what the fold is for.
What quantities of A4 folded brochures can I order?
From 500 to 50,000 copies, priced per thousand with the rate falling as the quantity rises.
