What drives the price of duplicate NCR books in Ireland?
We publish the price of every size and quantity on the product page rather than in an article, because printing prices move and a blog post does not. What is worth explaining here is what you are actually paying for, so you can read any quote, ours or anyone else's, and know whether it is a good one.
1. Size
An A4 book uses roughly twice the paper of an A5 one, and the price follows, though not exactly, because the setup work is the same either way. A4 gives you room for a line by line breakdown. A5 is the common choice for trades and fits a glovebox. A6 and DL are for quick receipts and dockets.
2. Number of parts
A duplicate book is two parts. A triplicate is three. The third part adds paper and a little press time, so a triplicate costs more than a duplicate of the same size, and less than one and a half times as much.
3. Sets per book
Our duplicate books run 100 sets to a book, and triplicates 50, which keeps the finished book a sensible thickness to write on. More sets per book means fewer books for the same number of documents.
4. How many books you order
This is the big one, and it surprises people. Most of the cost of a short print run is setting up the press, not the paper going through it. That work is done once whether you order one book or twenty, so the price per book falls sharply as the quantity climbs. If you know you will use them, ordering a year's worth at once is usually the single biggest saving available to you.
5. What is bundled in
Two quotes for the same book are not comparable until you know what each includes. Ask about the artwork setup, the proof, changes to the proof, the numbering, and delivery to your address. A cheaper book price with a setup fee, a proof fee and delivery on top is not cheaper.
