What a personalised invoice book is

An invoice book is a pad of numbered invoice forms bound with a cover. Ours are printed on NCR carbonless paper, so what you write on the top copy comes through on the copy underneath without carbon sheets. The top copy goes to the customer and the copy stays in the book as your record. Every book is printed with your own details in black ink, from your artwork or from a design we draw up for you at no charge.

Duplicate or triplicate

A duplicate book has two parts, an original and one copy, and holds 100 sets, which is 200 sheets. A triplicate book has three parts, an original and two copies, and holds 50 sets, which is 150 sheets. Most sole traders and small firms use duplicate books. Four sizes

• A4, 210mm x 297mm, for itemised invoices with many lines. A4 invoice books
• A5, 148mm x 210mm, the most ordered size: room for six to ten lines and it fits a van door pocket. A5 invoice books
• A6, 105mm x 148mm, a pocket book for short receipts and cash sales. A6 invoice books
• DL, 99mm x 210mm, a tall narrow slip that suits a single line of work and a total. DL invoice books

How the books are made

Each book has a manilla cover, a stiff cardboard back and a wrap around writing shield, so pressing on one set does not mark the one beneath. The spine is taped in black. Every sheet is perforated along the binding edge, top or left as you choose, so an invoice tears out cleanly or stays in the book.

Sequential numbering

Numbering is included in the price. Tell us the starting number when you order, for example 0001 or 2501 to carry on from your last book, and where on the form it should sit. If you prefer to number by hand, choose the plain option.

What has to be on an invoice in Ireland

If you are VAT registered, Revenue requires a VAT invoice to show your name, address and VAT number, the date of issue, a unique sequential invoice number, the customer name and address, a description and quantity of what was supplied, the date of supply if it differs from the invoice date, the amount before VAT, the VAT rate and the VAT amount in euro. Most of that is printed on the book once: your details, the headings and the boxes. The number is printed by us in sequence, so each invoice you write is already unique. What you fill in by hand is the customer, the work and the money.

If you are not VAT registered, leave the VAT lines off and we lay the form out without them. Tell us either way and the proof will show exactly what prints.

Design, proof, turnaround and delivery

Upload your own artwork or choose the free design service and tell us what to include. Either way you receive a proof by email and nothing is printed until you approve it. Books are printed and dispatched in 3 to 4 working days after approval. Free delivery anywhere in Ireland, north and south, on every order. Prices are shown ex VAT.
